MASTER GARDENER PLANT SALE

Master Gardener Plant Sale
Evansville, Indiana

Who: SWIMGA Southwestern Indiana Master Gardener Association, a non-profit organization of approximately 300 active area members trained thru Purdue Extension Service.

What: Annual Spring Plant Sale. There will be 12,000 plants, 40 varieties of tomatoes, Mother’s Day gifts, garden crafts, as well as a large selection of annuals and perennial for both sun and shade raised locally by Master Gardeners.

When: Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 3, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. Until 2: 00 p.m.
Where: Vanderburgh County 4-H Center, Boonville-New Harmony Road, Evansville, Indiana

Why: All proceeds go directly back into varied projects including more than twenty-two gardens cared for by volunteer Master Gardeners throughout the Evansville area. These gardens include:
Reitz Home Garden, University of Evansville Rose Garden, Mesker Zoo Gardens, Newburgh Park Gardens, and the Master Gardener Display Gardens.

Additional Information: The theme for this year’s sale is Native Indiana Plants. Several varieties will be available to purchase. The sales area has been expanded this year to offer more veggies, larger varieties of ferns, heirloom iris, and to make shopping easier. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday,
Master Gardeners will make hourly presentations on a variety of topics including Medicinal Herbs, Sedum Container Gardening, Weatheriore and Gardening, Tomatoes 101, Gardens To Go (container with tomato, pepper, and herb plants), Native Plants and Trees After the Storm.

SWIMGA is a Purdue University Master Gardener Program through the Vanderburgh County Extension Educator.
