WE'RE #1
We are pleased to accept the award from Keep Evansville Beautiful as the top selection for their 2009 Business Landscape Awards. Thanks to our landscaper extraordinaire - Larry Michel, owner of Forever Green. He works tirelessly to fertilize, plant, weed and tend to our lovely grounds surrounding the Pagoda. The fall planting this year provided a bounty for butterflies on their migration. As we speak, Larry is planning his annual bulb planting project that will fill the beds with thousands of hyacinths, daffodils and tulips next spring.

COMBAT CHALLENGE CHAMPIONS!
Another success story for the Firefighters' Combat Challenge event this year (Oct. 17 & 18) sponsored by Old National Bank. Lead organizer Joey Jones reported 150 competitors from throughout the Midwest and Canada traveled here to compete in order to qualify for the national contest in November.

The event is a grueling test of a firefighter's agility and speed in timed competitions. In full gear, they climb a five-story tower, chip a beam, haul a 42-lb hose and rescue a 175-lb dummy as the clock ticks the seconds. This year's top speed was 1 minute, 34 seconds.

We hope this event continues to grow and be successful.
